we know each other well by now old bean.
i love life.
i live a small life.
even with bob i did.
but especially now that i’m alone.
how few needs we all actually have to fulfill
to be really happy.
for those new to the peanut
this is where i live.
the one i live in is nearby the one shown in this picture.
but the size is the same.
i live in a tiny studio apartment here
in a complex that looks like an english village.
i named my tiny studio the first day i moved in
the wren house
it’s just the right size.
525 square feet.
as you know
i own very little.
and so to me it feels quite spacious really.
it could easily hold bob too if he were to come back into
my life from wherever he now is in the universe!
it’s not for everyone of course
especially if you had a family.
but for me it works.
you can happily live small
in whatever size house you might have!
it’s just a mind set.
the simple concept of
we’ve talked about it here before.
but it’s always fun to re~visit. at least for me.
it’s a good reminder in today’s over abundant world.
that wonderful swedish word
that embodies the whole feeling
” just right. just enough. no more. “
a most comforting concept for every aspect of our lives.
no matter how many people you live with!
it’s pretty foreign to many of us in the west.
to MOST of those in the west anyway.
where we’ve been taught from the git-go
BIGGER AND MORE OF EVERYTHING
it’s the american way old bean.
that concept here in america
has been drilled into us as a
it has been the norm for so very long now in our country . . .
ALL IN THE NAME OF PROGRESS
that our kids have bought into it long since
through every ad they see on tv and now the internet.
want a test of that reality?
give them just one
or at the most . . .
at christmas now
and check their little faces!
and as they get older . . . it gets even worse.
could it be the kardashian effect?
they’re now all trying to live like the kardashians.
all over the world it seems!
it’s not so funny old bean.
for those souls in this world that count in the millions
who simply are trying to get through each day
ENOUGH TO EAT JUST TO SURVIVE.
our country bought into
the kardashian effect
and is now spreading that concept
by way of multi media
to the rest of the world.
what a gift to give to them!
the gift of
so that people who used to be satisfied
with simple lives
and even happy lives
if they don’t have
the very latest and ALL of everything.
because it’s all
STUFF old bean.
even if it’s the most expensive and fancy stuff
or piles of thrift store stuff
filling the garage and the cupboards
and the drawers
and the closets
and the tables
and then the attic
and then a storage space that they have to pay rent on
and the bills pile up!
because there’s always something more
that has to be
to supposedly bring that moment of a high.
that sense of anticipation and then elation.
that bought happiness.
and in the meantime
they’re missing out on
and sometimes terrible arguments start
over money problems
and sometimes precious marriages and families
dissolve and drown
in the debt of stuff.
they’re just hamsters on a wheel
drowning in debt yet buying
and the sun goes down.
and the full moon rises.
and they rinse and repeat.
and they’re so very tired.
refuse to get off the wheel of buying.
miss what it’s all about charlie brown.
don’t you just love dandy lions?
especially . . . ESPECIALLY
when they’re delivered by a tiny sweaty hand clutching them
if we keep on old bean . . .
i guess we’ll eventually wind up like this scene in
the little guy left on the planet wading through and sorting
all of our
lonely little guy he is.
we don’t like to think about it.
we’re only ONE.
what can WE DO?
but with 7 BILLION of us now
it’s not so far fetched to turn our world into
when all the millions of land fills are full
the planet becomes full. then what?
we’ll be looking up and out . . .
what was it all about?
what was it all about charlie brown?

i can’t say as i know what it’s all about.
but i do know one thing.
it’s never about the stuff.
and i feel like most of you who read the peanut
or you wouldn’t keep coming back to these old digs!
agreeing with this preaching of
ALWAYS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN . . .
that’s enough peanut.
HAPPY EARTH DAY 2016 OLD BEAN!
til soon old bean!
