don’t you like the word less?
it’s such a little word for a BIG idea!
it’s the idea of less in your life leading to
what my captain likes to call
” more better ” life!
and don’t let the word less scare you if you are used to MORE.
more of everything.
sometimes more of everything simply means
more time spent in trying to keep your head above water.
sifting endlessly through all the more of it.
more times you wish you had more time.
and an endless cycle that never allows you to really
more choices that make your head swim.
sometimes . . .
is the word you want to live with.
to aspire to.
to keep in your heart and your home.
i just LOVE this picture.
i only threw it in here to see if you’re still with me!
even I KNOW when i’m getting all preachy!
and i kinda am!
if you’re amid a bunch of busy otters
and if you might be going down for the third time . . .
give my simple way of living a try old bean!
old peanut readers know how i love the simplicity of things.
the concept of
there is a certain elegance in living with less.
less in everything.
clothes. cars. food. knick knacks. technical gizmos. toys. shoes.
there is a certain elegance in loving the look of less.
not too little to be cold and stark and clinical.
after all . . . few people want to live in a white cube!
but not so covered up with THINGS and STUFF even if it’s
that there’s no comfortable place to sit and read a lovely book
or watch downton abbey and be able to set down a glass!
uh . . .
you know . . .
because there’s no space left on the table top to put it!
what’s in my grapefruit juice i wonder?
i’m ENTIRELY too happy about all this!
the world is a crazy messy evil wonderful place.
it’s full of fascinating unique and complex people.
living simple is an antidote for simply living here.
and surviving all the above.
here’s to you old bean!
in any effort you might have to make a simpler life for yourself.
and your family.
children thrive on order. it helps them grow. they feel secure.
and remember . . .
when you’re gone . . . and they’re all grown and have their own . . .
nobody wants to have to grieve while they’re having to
sift and sort and dispose of all
they usually have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF of their own!
til soon old bean!
oh. and . . .
p . s .
here’s my own enemy and self instruction for the new year . . .
my old nemesis.
i love dorito chips.
