this post is about two artists. i want to tell you about both of them.
each one with a very distinct style of her own.
one is busier in her vision and yet still retains a simplicity . . . and
one uses the discipline of saying volumes with ‘less is more’ . . . often harder to do.
and both are simply DELIGHTFUL!
one whose work i love and discovered quite some time ago . . . cynthia myers.
or known to you peanut readers as my own dearest bean . . . cindi!
LOLOL! her comments on the peanut alone make you want to visit her blog.
i have no doubt that she will one day soon become an illustrator for
fabulous children’s books . . . starting with HER OWN!
and another artist . . . . . . only recently found . . .
i just discovered her through one of my very favorite blogs the other day . . .
my friend . . . rosemary’s ‘content in a cottage’ . . . another great blogger.
this is yelena.
yelena is from russia. but she was raised here in the midwest.
i love all kinds of art. from the masters to abstract.
but i confess to a special fondness of childlike simplicity.
there’s that word again! just can’t escape it! it seems to rule my whole life! but how lovely is that.
my dearest bean cindi at her wonderful blog ‘old black cat boo’ does art with simplicity.
it captures feelings and happiness with just simple lines and color and expressions.
some call it folk art. but i don’t know. i think that might be too limiting. there should be no labels.
i think of it as art from a free and beautiful and childlike spirit!
cindi and yelena share the same sense of wonder and fun and spontaneity in their work.
and they both work small. which is an art unto itself! . . .
creating little treasures of originality and love and their own personal vision.
the world needs more of cindi’s and yelena’s way of seeing things. they just make you feel good.
here’s an example of yelena’s work . . .
i wouldn’t mind having a tiny elephant living with me in my house! sleeping on my bed!
or having his breakfast porridge in the kitchen each merry morning! what fun we would have!
a very large tub for such a tiny elephant! but i’d get in too and we’d splash away the dirt!
maybe this is where yelena does all her work. simple. neat. organized. minimal. lovely.
and now . . .
here are some works of cindi’s that i simply love! they’re exquisite in what is left out . . .
your own imagination takes you where it wants to go!
the love of cindi’s life is blue.
he’s a gentle giant of a white great dane. his eyes are crystal blue. as blue as a summer sky.
and he’s totally deaf. and he has a black circle around one eye. blue is unique. he is blue.
and to all of us who’ve come to know and love him . . . well. there’s only one blue. that’s all.
he is often her muse. and her art is wonderful!
but her humor is the winner. worth a visit to her blog all on its own!
yes! that’s cindi driving. and she has strawberry blonde hair and freckles. and a grip on the wheel!
did i say she rescues animals? blue is the biggest. there are many room mates. and the snow is deep.
permission was received . . . all rights are reserved.
i recently came across this quote from the famous poet . . . one of my favorite poets really . . .
rainer maria wilke . from . . . songs to orpheus.
there’s a lightness in things.
only we people move forever burdened.
pressing ourselves onto everything… obsessed by weight.
how strange and devouring our ways must seem to those
life is enough.
and if you want some visual delight . . . and just some FUN! reading . . . check out cindi’s blog.
she is a recsuer of animals and she works with animals.
yes. animals. that is her passion.
her other passions are making art and writing and gardening and fixing up her 100 year old cottage.
her link is in my side bar of friends . . . old black cat boo
it will take you to it immediately!
