SHAME ON YOU
what a travesty.
a global force for good?
bear with me here.
and please . . .
the peanut is not a political place.
i do not subscribe to the world of
i am simply a person who reveres
i hate the blatant and cruel and self serving world
it’s all about money and power and greed
the integrity of the world community
even if it was ever there.
this morning i visited my dear friend’s site.
her blog is on my side bar of friends.
home in a heart beat
i read it
and was so touched and emboldened to do
that i found myself writing my own post on it here too.
the post of Vickie’s that i hope you read
extinction is forever
posted july 11, 2014
again. so irritating.
i cannot get that address to turn blue so you can easily access it.
don’t know why!
but you can click on her site on my side bar very easily.
i urge anyone reading the peanut to just that.
it is a tour de force.
a magnificent post about something
and so relevant
all of us
that it bears reading and passing on.
and if we
as the little people of this world who
about important things
we each spread the word to our fellow men and women
and let our own leaders know how we feel about it
if we support the courage
that is being shown by those who don’t just
in the front lines
we can make a difference.
here’s something worth thinking about.
if somebody hadn’t cared enough
there would still be terrible slavery.
even worse than there is now in so many other places.
there would still be the viet nam war going on.
the people helped to end that.
the little people.
we really did.
in this current issue . . .
we have to hope we can make a difference.
because folks . . .
if we can’t . . .
who are intent upon destroying our oceans
and the balance of life in our oceans
because they are part of us.
without the oceans and the delicate balance therein
all over this world.
according to official naval reports
American Navy sonar testing will be taking place
from 2014 through 2019.
it has already killed whales and dolphins in the thousands.
you say . . .
” why should i be interested in that? “
according to the navy itself . . .
this testing in the
gulf of mexico
will result in even more
thousands upon thousands of deaths
of whales and dolphins and sea turtles.
as well as other mammals of the seas.
they admit to their own estimate of
well over 138,500
here is what the death
will be like
as reported by a research reporter of
the Scientific American publication . . .
There are no noise cancelling head phones to stop the US Navy’s 235 decibel pressure waves of unbearable pinging and metallic shrieking.
At 200 decibels the vibrations can rupture your lungs and above 210 decibels the lethal noise can bore straight through your brain until it hemorrhages that delicate tissue.
If you’re not deaf after this devasting sonar blast ~ you are dead.
THIS is the real life of marine mammals during this testing. Marine mammals destroyed by the US NAVY’S all out acoustic war on the WORLD’S oceans.
The collateral damage of this high intensity military sonar is shocking.
But because all these millions of dying whales and dolphins are too often out of sight ~ they are out of mind.
Renowned Orca researcher Ken Balcomb calls it ” acoustic holocaust. “
The Scientific American publication calls the military sonar ” a brutal and inhumane death sentence. “
here is what I say . . .
are we that terrified of our fellow man
and of the ‘threat of terrorism’
that we have to
destroy the balance of life and nature
of our own
frankly my dears
it won’t make a damn.
because if we
in destroying our oceans at the rate we’re going
with the sheer pollution of the water itself
our continent~size swirls of plastic garbage pits now totaling
and ever growing
the hunting and slaughtering
of particular species to
or near extinction
we will be destroying something necessary to
our own survival
as a species.
we are doomed anyway.
we won’t have to blow each other up.
FOR GOD’S SAKE!
we very nearly hunted the sea otter into extinction.
they were hunted to near oblivion.
they are only now making a tiny comeback
thanks to dedicated people helping those left.
about 2000 of them
their loss is all connected.
it’s the balance disturbed.
their own contribution or rather
thereby endangers the kelp in the oceans.
sea otters eat urchins
which eat the
kelp . . .
which supply nutrients and oxygen for other species.
and without kelp
the other eco systems break down
and create a ‘desert’ in the oceans.
IT IS ALL SUCH A PRECIOUS
the majestic and gentle whales
and intelligent and playful dolphins
and little sea otters
and all the other wonderful necessary sea mammals
and fish and life of all kinds
have a place
a VERY IMPORTANT role
in the balance
with the country of
slaughtering the whales and dolphins
at their own free will by hundreds upon thousands
while the world watches
and with the country of
killing them as well . . .
with the machinations of
the industrial military complex
and the excessive sonar testing
so that they manage to strand on beaches
bleeding from their eyes and mouths
and dying in incredible pain.
deserve more from us.
what in the world are we doing ?
has our hatred and distrust of each other made us
feel we have every right to inflict our
supposed superiority on the rest of the world’s
who are we?
that we feel entitled to do this carnage?
this is happening on beaches now all over the world.
america is not the only one testing
these terrible weapons.
hundreds and hundreds of these wonderful sea animals
are stranding and dying every day.
not to mention the damage to be done
HUGE OIL CORPORATIONS
who will now be allowed to detonate seismic air guns
to locate new oil and gas fields in the oceans.
these seismic guns are
to be shot
with massive underwater blasts
EVERY TEN SECONDS
OVER A YEAR!
this is to start soon.
permission has already been granted.
so add that to the testing done by the Navy
and the slaughter being done by the Japanese and others
and . . .
well . . .
it just goes on and on and on
and it won’t stop.
we have come into their home
and we are intently destroying
what can you do?
what can i do?
we can support organizations like
THE SEA SHEPHERD
you’ll learn about it on Vicki’s site
and the courageous man at its helm.
and on my own i have found several petitions to sign.
to protect the whales and the other sea mammals.
they went to the navy and to my own congressmen.
you could do that very same thing.
it might not be much you say?
it’s not enough you say?
and it will do no good you say?
what’s the use you say?
all i can reply is . . .
it’s the only way i could sleep tonight
after reading about all this.
YOU CAN NEVER UN~KNOW IT
ONCE YOU KNOW.
you can email
the secretary of defense
with a simple statement
please stop the excessive sonar testing by the navy in our oceans.
protect the important sea mammals who are dying by the thousands.
protect the more important balance of nature in our seas.
i know this was very heavy.
and i’m sorry.
i know i may have lost you.
but my conscience wouldn’t let me not post it.
til soon old bean.
