are you burnt out?
have you had all you can stand?
does the constant bad news make you want to
flat out like a lizard on the sand?
does your job and all the stresses
you’re under daily . . .
make you just . . .
well . . .
feel sometimes like
you’ve been thrown into the lion’s den?
and you’re not sure how kisses might just turn into
do you just get tired of being in the
thick of things . . .
the hurry . . .
the noise . . .
the clutter . . .
the self important busy~ness
of everything . . .
hold on old bean!
come by here.
visit the cozy minimalist.
it’s quiet here.
at least between tornadoes anyway.
just now . . .
it’s early morning
there’s a nice breeze blowing through the open window.
and the birds are singing ninety to nothin’ !
they’re VERY busy.
almost makes one feel guilty for not being
on second thought . . .
it really doesn’t.
the world is just too busy.
nobody seems to be enjoying life.
it’s all too much.
the world is too much with us.
this is the circle of life.
of a quiet zen type of life.
here at the little wren house.
it’s simple and cozy here.
you can rest.
and look upon these smiling faces.
they will make you feel better.
who knew a sloth could look so adorable?
aren’t smiles wonderful?
all of nature has them.
this guy could melt any heart.
just look at this little baby below . . .
even if you do eat meat . . .
i hope you don’t eat these little fellows . . .
he’s so happy just to be here!
everybody in this world
to at least grow up.
and this smile . . .
this grand little face.
sometimes it’s not the mountains you have to climb . . .
that get you . . .
the darned sand in your shoes.
it’s all easier old bean . . . .
if you decide to just live a simple
clean out the closets.
clear out the garage!
it just feels so good!
one of my favorite activities
getting rid of stuff!
even a minimalist can acquire extra stuff
little by little.
but here at my tiny wren house . . .
there’s just not enough room for it.
and because of that . . .
any unneeded extra stuff needs to leave
it feels almost spacious in the little wren house.
if feels good old bean.
it’s fun to clear out!
to breathe deeply and make fresh space.
it’s so wonderful to open a closet and have
just the things you love to wear.
not a closet crammed to the brim with things half forgotten.
to wear only a few wonderful clothes
that fit right now . . . and that you TRULY like.
to give the rest away to homeless people or
others who could use them right now.
if you have to work now . . .
and believe me . . .
. . . i do remember all those hectic years of my own . . .
well . . .
could make getting ready to go to work
SO much easier!
that one simple thing alone
might just help cure some of those
burnt~out~worn out feelings you have.
and then . . .
time to come back home.
having beautiful things in your home . . .
they’re important in life too.
if you have dozens and dozens and dozens
of beautiful things . . .
sitting all around . . . on every single surface
taking up space everywhere you look . . . in every room . . .
waiting to be dusted . . .
or maybe not . . .
well . . .
sometimes that can just add to your stress too . . .
without your even realizing it!
some people don’t mind living with
tons of stuff. they’re emotionally connected somehow.
and that works for them. and they’re happy.
that’s another story.
but for most of us . . .
we usually feel the need to clear out a bit.
if we’re truly honest with ourselves.
but . . .
there’s a secret.
it’s a wonderful thing that most minimalists all know.
and there are ALL kinds of minimalists.
from the ‘everything in my backpack’ kind at one end
to the ‘uncluttered but still very livable’ other end.
but . . .
the secret stays the same for ALL . . .
and that is
it’s AMAZING how
simply clearing out your living spaces
can make you feel lighter.
it’s as if
then suddenly becomes
just another place full of clutter and chaos
and only another
heavy problem . . .
with the name of
has a way of smothering you
and making you tired.
it literally zaps your energy.
you never know where to start.
so you don’t.
kind of a vicious circle.
then you wake up and it’s monday again.
and you go back to your stressful job.
there is no rest for you.
you’re simply burnt out.
one way to help that is to just
clear your space.
have only what you need.
let it go.
feel the freedom and the lightness of being
of NOT letting
a bunch of stuff
if you can get the children involved too . . .
and as a family . . .
you all decide to only live with what you need.
what you really truly love.
just more and more
well . . .
you find that you start
you really do old bean!
and you find your smile
i’m on some kind of roll here!!!!
it dawns on me . . .
i sound like a reformed smoker.
suddenly trying to get the world to
see how wonderful it is not to smoke.
i never have smoked.
and i’ve always been a minimalist.
even from the beginning.
ever since i was really young.
but i seem to have been born not wanting
it truly is rather odd. now that i think about it.
but it’s such a wonderful way to live that . . .
we push the cozy minimalist lifestyle here!
sort of where the title of the blog came from.
so please forgive me.
but . . .
it’s just so darned grand . . .
it’s hard not to share it!
such a calm
way to live.
it’s a life where
and ever acquiring
are just not the most important part of living!
it’s friendships that are so wonderful.
and the simple gift of
to really enjoy them.
time to get to know one another.
some families cram activities into every waking hour.
weekends are filled with three different kinds of ball practice . . .
running here and there and back to here again.
shopping for even more stuff . . .
because it has become a form of entertainment.
grabbing fast food . . . hurry. hurry.
getting to really
know each other.
there is beauty
just talking and eating and sleeping well
and reading and sight seeing
and laughing out loud and
breathing fresh air and walking
and playing and learning
always a little chocolate.
life is so good.
come by anytime.
leave your shoes at the door.
we go barefoot and sockfoot in here.
it feels wonderful!
we always want to listen
to a good sea story!
wishing you a happy restful weekend.
having the time and space
what you love.
til soon old bean.
