FRESH ! COOL ! HEALTHY ! YUM !!!
this post is a visual feast i’m afraid.
no profound thoughts. no humor. no angst. no drama queen in residence!!!
WHAT? what’s happened to the peanut???
careful there drama queen… taking ourselves a little too seriously are we?
no no nannette !
this is to whet your appetite for cool no~cook meals on a hot summer night.
well…. some of them have pasta. but that’s PRACTICALLY no cooking!
for those who eat meat or have husbands who think a meal
is not complete without it… you could probably add shrimp or chicken.
but all these salads shown are vegetarian. a few even considered vegan . . .
and ALL DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL ! no?
under each picture should be the website where it originates.
so… if you can’t figure out what to put into it just by the pictures . . .
or if you’d like to check out some new places on the web . . . well. there you are!
and now . . .
without further ado . . . oh! i like that word almost as much as i do alas.
without further ado!
” here ya go pal! “
all you’ll really need to set the scene . . .
well . . . and a plate of course! LOL

and for your dining pleasure in eating cool salads . . .
always al fresco if possible old bean!
but of course!
hmmm. not too bad. not bad at all.
or . . .
or . . . if you don’t have a fear of heights . . .
the one below sort of makes me shudder. the rail is not nearly high enough to my liking.
good lord. you could accidentally drop a glass over the edge and kill somebody below !!!
but let’s face it . . .
a cozy table for one or two is all you really need . . . even in your own little back yard.
or a simple table inside in the glorious air conditioned coolness . . .
or a huge table anywhere that the whole family can laugh around . . .
for pete’s sake charlie brown! that’s the beauty of salad!
simple. informal. delightful!
and now. enough with all the exclamation points. get on with the salads already.
well . . . forgot to get the site on this one! the very first one too. LOL.
but it really takes no website for this classic simple beauty.
it’s just a matter of your favorite dressing.
or if you’re REALLY into health . . . no dressing at all.
me? i’ve been known to like a little salad with my dressing. LOL.
though a favorite is simple oil and vinegar or oil and lemon juice.
there are some lovely balsamic vinegars. mmm…. raspberry!
and yes…. i admit…. i live in the southwest and i love the . . . you know . . .
“just bring me the ‘ranch’ ma’am.” LOL!
so pretty! and what a fresh treat in it . . . watermelon.
a purple cauliflower salad. beautiful!
are these tiny little marshmallows??? !!!! hmmm. different indeed.
maybe an exciting new taste! i’ll have to check it out. i admit i haven’t visited any of the sites yet.
i simply adore jamie oliver. first… he’s british. and second… well he’s just adorable!

i confess. i’m not a lover of green beans. but i might try this.
the grapes and pasta would save it for me.

anything with black olives.
oh those greeks and italians know a thing or two about life!!!
i often add strawberries to my salads. they give a certain kick i think.
not too sweet but a tiny tang. lovely.
oh my! i love this one!
a masterpiece of different flavors and textures! a favorite at whitely creek bed and breakfast
this unusual beauty is from girl friends cooking club!
an exoctic black bean and mango delight.
and finally . . .
after cole slaw . . .
which everybody has a favorite recipe for no doubt . . .
it’s just not summer in my part of the country without
this favorite often with a meal . . .
every southern cook worth her salt makes a great potato salad.
some use more mustard. some less.
some are chunky like this one.
but few of us even use a recipe. you simply make it like your mother made it! LOL.
only . . . my little mother was a new york yankee. my texan father taught her quickly enough!

i must admit . . . mine looks more like this one above . . . though i love all kinds.
i do like it nice and spicy though and a bit more mashed with chunks . . .
rather than all chunky. to each his/her own! that’s the beauty of it.

i’m intrigued by this site. i haven’t really visited it yet. but ~ well in L.A. ~ i’m assuming los angeles?
or maybe ~ well in louisiana? ~ LOL.
i like finding new blogs. it’s fun. and a calorie~free treat.
we’ve come to the end of the salad bar.
i don’t know about you after all this healthy eating . . .
but . . .
oh good grief charlie brown !
i could eat one of these . . . .
oh NO tammy NO!
given my heart thingy and my body being a cholesterol magnet
i can only eat these once in a blue moon.
but hey! i thought the moon looked pretty blue last night. didn’t you?
well . . .
as auntie mame says . . .
“life is to be lived!”
and here’s to enjoying a full life!
hope you fix a great salad for dinner!
and don’t forget the ice cream brownie!
til soon old bean.
