just sittin’ here a thinkin’
never anything grand alas.
alas. i don’t know why i like certain words. but that one i do.
so alas. just sitting here thinking little thoughts.
it started with my morning.
i arose in a happy mood. i don’t feel any older yet . . . from my birthday yesterday!
like little jacob told me . . . “i don’t feel 9 yet tam! i still feel like i’m 8”
me too jacob!
i don’t feel like i’m 9 yet either!
and i’m thinking
that statement pretty much explains the whole aging thing!
as long as we have our health
we’re never really different inside.
that little word health though . . . is the maker or breaker i’m afraid.
but even so. there is always something to feel grand about.
inside i mean!
something to feel 9 about!
take this lady for instance. i have no idea who she is.
but i found her countenance pleasant. and her t shirt wonderful!!!
it tells me much about her sense of humor.
that’s the clue i’m thinking. alas.
a sense of humor.
do you remember this lovely woman? this star of the aqua blue pools?
we lost her on june 6th at the age of 91.
she was a beautiful icon of the golden age of hollywood.
esther williams. ‘ america’s mermaid ‘
what a beauty she was! and from what i have read anyway . . .
a beauty inside as well as outside. always the best kind old bean.
she was frank and honest in an industry that seldom personifies those qualities.
she was more than just a ‘move star’ . . . she was a marvelous athlete.
and at one time held the national record for the 100 meter freestyle.
it’s said she could hold her breath for well over 3 minutes under water.
one of my favorite films of hers is
‘ jupiter’s darling ‘
the underwater sequences where she swims with white marble statues
that come to life . . . well . . . wonderful movie magic!
she enjoyed her film career and then became a successful business woman
with her own line of swimwear and simming pools.
goodbye dear esther. thank you for the enduring magic of your gifts to us!
and below . . .
another icon of fragile sexy beauty
proving that you don’t have to wear a string bikini and let it ALL hang out
to be beautiful.
this is classic.
and will never be out of style.
i don’t care how many paris hiltons parade around in nothing.
oh what we’ve lost.
when did we think shock and awe is more enticing than the human imagination?
on the news last night there was a segment about a woman in germany.
i think it said germany.
anyway . . .
she has worn a tight corset for YEARS on end . . . to get her waist to 16 inches.
now she is going for 14 inches.
it showed her on the tv. she can no longer breathe properly and has many other health
no kidding! why ever would you think !!!
back when women were fainting all over the place.
even to the point of specially designed furniture to accommodate them!
enter . . . the fainting couch.
good grief charlie brown.
alas! we’ve come so far.
ahem… almost too far!!! LOL.
gone are the days when women were trussed up like a sausages!
why ON EARTH would you willingly do that to yourself again!!!
and WHO demanded it? even back then?
have men actually been the culprit of ‘designing’ the female form to suit them?
or have WOMEN been their own worst enemy?
i have always wondered about that.
it seemed to take generations and generations of women to
succumb to the evils of the ‘fashion industry’ before we awoke
to simply allowing ourselves to
ahhhhh. more like it!
except i don’t like writing on my t shirts. regardless of the designer!
miss chanel knew a thing or two about
her designs are classic and will stand the test of time.
they allow a woman’s body to be natural. and comfortable.
and we have even taken it a step further.
some say too far!
but still. compared to the enslavement that went before . . .
good ole’ 21st century.
a lot to be said for it.
we still have a little work to do in the shoe fetish department!!!
remember. “be yourself. unless you’re an idiot!”
okay. old bean.
going back to just thinkin’ now.
instead of you know . . .
alas . . .
til soon old bean.
have fun being yourself!
i know i will!
