well. not entirely officially i guess.
but you know it. you know she’s here.
the spring storm season is almost history for this year.
spring here is sudden. usually violent and disruptive. and short. thank heaven.
ah. but summer.
she wafts in and lingers . . . and yes. she is beautiful.
but she overstays her welcome as far as i’m concerned.
the last many years or so here she’s been staying at the party way into
what is my favorite time of the year . . .
last year she stayed until late november for pete’s sake.
go home already!
well. not right now. she just got here after all.
i’d just like to remind her that it’s never good to overstay your welcome!
i do not wish her ill will. she brings joy to so many people.
hours spent lanquishing in the heat of her heart . . .
picnics . . . unless the food blows off the plate of course.
boats on any kind of water are to be found.
and we have many many lakes.
that painting above is lovely. it’s courtesy of
~ josephine wall fantasy paintings ~
you can see more of her work at www.wallcoo.net
you all know what this is . . .
i adore little night owls. perfectly designed creatures.
but i’m not one. a night owl i mean.
nope. i’m not a night person. i’m a morning person.
i like light and fresh cool morning air. bracing i believe is the word for it.
i have always awakened early. and i start fading early too at night.
i’ve mentioned it before. the only reason i bring it up now is . . .
just like there are day people and night people
i’m thinking there are summer people and not summer people.
some may be summer. others winter. others spring.
i’m an autumn person. and maybe winter. . .
but autumn for sure.
it doesn’t mean we hate the other seasons.
it simply means our souls and our very bodies are more acclimated to that season.
the one we love.
some of us just like to be cool man!
we like the autumn breezes blowing through our ears.
i mean hair.
so . . .
if you don’t mind . . .
i of course don’t want to rain on your parade
or burst your summer bubble . . .
but for every one of you doing this in the hot summer sun . . .
and this . . . by the pool or the ocean . . .
when you’re not out doing all the wonderful summer activities of course . . .
not to imply here on the peanut that you’re going to snooze your way through summer ! ! !
but while you’re busy doing what you’re doing . . .
i’m with this little guy below
~ in spirit anyway ~
some of us just aren’t built for the oppressive heat ! ! !
so . . .
to all those of you that CAN’T GET ENOUGH HEAT! and those looooooonnnnngggg summer days
(and you know who you are ~ yes. you. of the glam toes)
and all you that love cooking out there
whether the food on the grill or yourselves . . .
remember to wear sunscreen and your shades
eye sight is a precious thing.
as for me myself and i
i live in the now. it’s silly to rush the future.
today is the only day we have.
and i love summer. i really do.
if she’ll just promise to stay her allotted time
and give the other seasons here a chance.
message to you dear lady . . .
i love you summer. but it’s an uneasy love.
keep your high 100’s to yourself. give us some lovely 80’s and 90’s.
that’ll suit us just fine. you don’t have to barbeque us you know.
and if you don’t mind . . .
i’ll just find somewhere nice and cool
and lie low for awhile in the heat!
that’s me. just tell me when it’s over.
P L E A S E
don’t say the end of november for pete’s sake!!!
til soon old bean.
NOW THIS . . . i could get into ! ! ! YUM!
