awwwww . . .
look at those little toes.
he’s really upset.
awwwww . . . .
age doesn’t diminish the woe.
nor the sound decibel as it were!
one thing about it.
unless of course you started in a test tube . . .
and even then . . .
if you are a human being . . .
you started your life HERE . . .
that should be enough to unite all mankind right there.
every. single. one of us
started this life in someone’s tummy area.
it remains a miracle of life on this planet.
how it all comes together.
that spark of life!
this is going to be an unabashed tribute to all you mommies out there.
or at least
those mommies who take their job seriously.
not the crazed egotistical idiots who sell their children on ebay for god’s sake.
do you remember erma bombeck?
she was a wonderful humorist.
i’m not sure. but i think this little story came from her pen.
i’ve always loved it. you can easily picture it!
she reflected upon the days she was a stay at home mom
raising her children.
she was bone weary. she hadn’t had a ‘sit down relaxed’ meal for weeks on end.
one evening her husband decided it was PAST time she had a real treat!
he took her to a lovely ‘dress up’ style dinner with real grownups!
she was sitting at the banquet table.
she was in her best dress. she felt beautiful and witty and urbane.
she turned to the man on her left . . . a fellow guest . . .
she heard her voice raise an octave and chirped out ~
” I BET I CAN FINISH MY SOUP BEFORE YOU CAN !! “
this post is dedicated to all the mommies.
new mommies. veteran mommies. old mommies.
grand mommies who are raising their grandchildren full time
for whatever the reason
i’m here to tell you.
WE TAKE OUR HATS OFF TO YOU!
your world is or was . . . .
wow. now that’s appetizing! LOL.
and . . .
dont’ forget this . . .
tons of it.
UNLESS ! . . . .
( you’ve learned the beauty of minimalism in you life! )
there really ARE blogs about mommies who are minimalist!
they’re wonderful. you ought to check them out.
one of my favorites is the blog of a young mother named vappu .
she lives in finland with her husband and little daughter.
a beautiful blog! and it’s in english.
she talks about and shows pictures of her simple and beautiful life
her site is ‘cats meow’ . . . it’s also in my side bar
sorry ! just can’t help but preach it can i ?
some days are like this. i know.
there are just times you want to cry right along with them.
i’m sure that’s okay! i’m no psychologist. but there is such a thing
as being simply worn out.
and in my book . . . sometimes tears are cathartic!
they make you feel better in the end.
and lots of love and hugs and mutual tears are fine i think!
and then most days are like this probably
the little fingerprints all over everything
the sticky kisses
the self-given hair cuts
the stopped up toilets
the stinky diapers
the proud potty days
the walks in the fresh air and sunshine
the stories at bedtime
oh . . .
dearest mommies of this world
we here at the peanut
because only YOU know the truth about this sign . . .
LOLOL ! ! !
and just when you thought your life might be your own again ~
and you can not worry about them quite so much
they go off to college
or get their first job
or marry too young !
or horrors . . .
in your mind . . . the wrong person ! LOL (just ask my late mother in law)
oh wait. you can’t. well take my word for it.
she was the mommy to an ‘only’ son. and that’s a whole different breed! LOL.
and before i get cards and letters of protest . . .
i realize there are MANY mommies of ‘only sons’ who are simply wonderful
about it all !
the truth of it all is this.
you come in all sizes. all ages. all cultures.
you are amazing.
and the amazing thing is
that most of you don’t even seem to realize that.
i wasn’t fortunate enough to have my own children.
i was a loving step mommy though.
from the time she was 2 years old when i met her dad.
there were only 15 years between us. so later we were more
like sisters than step mom and step daughter.
but step mommies are a whole different post.
we won’t get into that here.
this is YOUR post mommy.
and here’s your resume’.
and this doesn’t mean to me necessarily just ‘having your own business.’
this is for full time mommies
and mommies with full time jobs
so many combinations.
it is the single most important job of all.
there you are.
and if you’re a man.
and you’re still with us. LOL.
the peanut has special thoughts for you guys too.
but this isn’t your post.
this post is dedicated to a mommy
