sir winston s. churchill
i’m not a political person at all.
maybe i should be.
it’s not that i’m a total ostrich. but i lack respect for
i revere blunt honesty. and integrity. and forthrightness.
show me a politician with those attributes and i’ll get interested.
LOL. yes. i know. they ALL THINK they’ve got those attributes don’t they.
i normally have at least 3 books going.
and one of them i’m reading right now
is this library book . . . above.
i’m a long time fan of sir winston.
i’ve read his own books. long ago.
but to read about him
through the eyes of his own daughter is a treat.
like any other human man in an era of mixed strong feelings
i’m sure there are those who actually revile him.
and he was cantankerous.
and he had an ego. but he was also a wise man for the most part.
and he rallied an entire nation to stand strong and fight the good fight.
i have often loved his wit!
nobody could deliver a line with such deadpan accuracy!
remember these famous quotes?
after too much imbibing at a long boring dinner party . . . listening to a pompous woman
along with being a brilliant statistician and public relations man
he was also a very accomplished artist.
as you no doubt already know.
he found that it relaxed him.
he was a wise man. and he remained a student of ‘history’
for his entire life.
a man of courage whose true worth wasn’t realized
until almost too late.
i have been thinking about one thing that he said . . .
though i think socrates might possibly have said it first . . .
“those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”
so. i’ve just been thinking lately. while reading his daughter’s book
about him. and here are my thoughts.
see this little man?
he is grumpy. he has low self esteem. he has hatered in his soul.
he is chubby and paunchy for his young age.
and he has an extremely BAD haircut.
he is almost 29 years old.
a mere child in the ‘running of countries’ type thing.
and . . .
being a mere child . . .
makes him irrational and reactive and potentially dangerous.
though it is rumored that his aunt and uncle are really
running things behind the scenes.
who reallly knows?
he reminds me of this man.
you can’t see him in this picture can you?
he was standing screaming into a microphone from a podium.
he also had a very bad hair cut.
and an even uglier mustache.
and an even uglier SOUL.
the damage this man’s rath had on this world
is still being dealt with. after all these years.
it’s never really over from these types you know.
they are all destroyers.
we always think they’re not as bad a threat as they really are.
we simply cannot believe some people can be truly evil.
not nazis. though the ‘step’ is the very same.
these are part of the over 1 million strong army of kim jong un.
i heard that on the news yesterday waiting for a weather forecast!
how do we know he has that many in his army? and does he?
who really knows.
the hitler style major EGO of this LITTLE man.
while his people are in a bad way. starving and mistreated.
and now the tools of war are different.
yes. they starve. and their lives are miserable.
while this plumply soft little man with the bad haircut
and the ugly soul
“plays” at war.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
the wisdom of this man.
history is a fascinating thing.
but it seems to simply be a revolving door on the stage. doesn’t it?
same old plot.
for some old enough to remember the other ugly man . . .
these pictures of kim jong un’s ‘followers’ must be rather terrifying.
or . . . maybe ‘unsettling’ to say the least.
the similarities are eery.
i’ve seen the old classic movie newsreels of when hitler was ‘building’ his
regime. the third reich.
only. one difference with this little chubby ugly tyrant.
he has backed himself into a corner for one of the major
things his kind cannot abide.
he has rattled the sabers and pontificated to his army
and now he cannot ‘bow’ out and ‘save face.’
saving face is apparently so important to their culture.
and that alone i think makes him dangerous.
sad and ridiculous in the extreme.
too bad he can’t just be a man and say ~
“i’ve been wrong. let’s figure out a way to make life better here.
without dying ourselves and killing other people.”
south korea living under his country’s idiocy for years.
the rest of us just listen to the news. read the various comments from
all the EXPERTS. there are so MANY now.
and i admit. i actually don’t listen that much anymore. it’s too upsetting.
and we go on with our lives. just like they did back in the 1930’s and 40’s.
kind of like that grand old movie
you just get on. while the world’s history marches on.
it just seems interesting to me. that’s all.
i mean history. because that’s what it will be. however it transpires.
we’re living it right here today.
i wish i could know what you’d be thinking sir winston.
are we learning?
or are we doomed to repeat?
rest in peace. you deserve that peace.
you fought the good fight.
i hope i haven’t depressed anybody old bean!
it’s just a fascinating thought. that’s all.
til soon old bean.
a brighter next post.
