hello old bean !
come on in!
sit down and tell me a sea story.
of course not.
they’re not just for outside!
i certainly wouldn’t mind too much
if this were MY outside ! ! ! LOL.
a simple white wicker chair.
a metaphor for my life maybe?
other than my bed and a table or two
and the bookcase and little nightstand
they’re the only furniture i have in my
i find that they’re really all i need.
i brought them from the wee blink bonnie.
i didn’t bring the dining table and chairs.
no room for those. i don’t need them anyway.

” i had three chairs in my house.
one for solitude.
two for friendship.
three for society.”
~ henry david Thoreau

i know that the “the minimal life” is not for everyone.
when i started this blog it was really to be about
my beloved minimalism.
but the captain very wisely ~
unbeknownst to me ~
~ when he surprised me with the blog ~
had put above the peanut ~
‘ponderings. on life the universe and everything’
that pretty much covers it i’d say!
he is a minimalist himself.
that’s how i discovered his blog.
and now i’m glad he had the foresight
to know that i’d probably visit about other things as well.
yes. i love living a small simple life.
it’s spare and lean.
it’s not opulent in any way.
but it suits me.
we’re each an individual.
and . . .
~ just in case ~
you surely know by now that i do not live in judgment.
of any kind of lifestyle.
minimalism leaves some people cold. i know that.
they can’t imagine how people can be happy
without the ‘trappings’ of living ~ so to speak.
for instance . . .
i have lots of friends both virtual and everyday friends
who couldn’t stand it if they had to give up thrifting
for even a week! or some . . . even a day! LOL.
i have one friend who could literally put up a sign in her house
and she would have a ‘stocked to the gills’ gift shop.
full inventory already!
she probably has thousands of dollars worth of “stuff.”
it amazes me. and she is not a hoarder. it’s all displayed very nicely.
i have lunch with her there every so often.
i love it.
but by the time we’re through . . .
i have to get out of there fast! i cannot BREATHE ! ! !
and she just laughs at me.
she is very dear.
i love visiting and seeing people’s homes.
both in real life and on their blogs.
because I’ve always loved interior design itself.
and the impact it can have on people’s lives and happiness.
it’s a treat. and beauty is good for our soul.
all kinds of beauty.
never ever think that when i write a minimalist post
that i’m telling you that’s how you should live.
it’s SO NOT ! ! !
WHO AM I to even suggest living a certain way ?
well. there you are.
i guess actually the lord would be the only one to tell you!
and i’m sure he’s far too busy with world affairs to worry about your stuff.
i guess i’m just like some people talking lovingly about certain
foods that they like.
it simply makes them FEEL GOOD !
so whenever i do it ~
because you know i will ~
just smile and like me anyway
because i like you. just the way you are.
henry and i will wax poetic about the importance
of our simple chairs
and our simple life
and invite you into the water every now and then . . .
just in case . . .
you know . . . you just might discover you’d enjoy it too!
just never think we look down our
minimalist noses at people
who enjoy lots of ‘stuff.’ LOLOL!!!
minimalist noses. that struck me funny.
what would that be?
a nose without boogers?
oh jacob. how you’d love that! LOLOL.
does that mean i have the secret mentality
of an 8 year old boy? good grief charlie brown!
it’s all just about life really old bean. not décor.
the only sad thing about ‘stuff’ is that it sometimes
or often even . . .
takes the place of more important things in this life.
but from what i’ve seen around . . .
i’d say as long as you keep a balance in your life
then you’re safe to enjoy it.
after all . . .
you can’t take it with you . . .
in spite of what these people thought!
it’ll just be dug up and put in museums like all the rest of it.
eons of years from now.
sort of puts it into perspective like nothing else can.
so . . .
i’ll keep enjoying the museums
and visiting beautiful homes
i’ll enjoy mostly
just my chairs of simplicity . . .
that are just right for friendship.
not bad friendship here . . .
there’s friendship. . . . then apparently
or we can be friends here too !
so simple. so clean. so neat.
there is just something about them.
charm and warmth. quite comfortable really too.
and crafted amazingly to me.
they’re all i need. and all i want.
so . . .
if someday you perchance to
happen upon a ghostly white wicker chair
i’ll be sitting there . . . my happy little ghostly minimalist self.
and i’ll be thinking . . .
” good grief charlie brown.
now would it hurt you to give us a nice coat of
fresh white paint? “
! ! ! !
til soon old bean.
~ ~ ~ ~
ahhhh . . . .
much better !
thanks old bean.
