the sudden realization of something important!
i had an epiphany.
i like that word.
it’s fun to say.
it suddenly came to me why i’m enjoying it
it was love at first sight
when i saw
the wren house.
number 1. it used to be a fancy hotel room!
number 2. when i was growing up . . .
we ALWAYS took camping trips.
if we had any vacation at all . . .
it was camping.
i’m not complaining.
i have fantastical memories old bean.
i can even smell the camp smoke
taste the marshmallows!
those were the days my friend.
i thought they’d never end.
that’s a song.
and a very good song at that.
i grew up and married a wonderful man.
as you all know who read the peanut.
and though wonderful as he was . . .
he was also
he had his own business.
now you can call it a business if you like old bean.
i called it
having a tiger by the tail.
long story short
other than . . .
you guessed it . . .
camping trips to the lake . . .
we never went ANYWHERE ! ! !
i accepted that.
it made for a happier marriage
that’s for sure!
and anyway . . .
i had already been pretty much all over the country
and canada ~ love canada by the way ~
when i was growing up . . .
because we were either leaving to move to our next duty
leaving to move to our next duty.
i guess i already said that.
that’s the truth of it.
and to save money
we always stayed in rest areas.
we either slept in our car.
or . . .
wait for it . . .
we camped out somewhere!
after my darling bob died
i treated myself to a recuperative
trip to the bahamas.
stayed at the princess of the bahamas.
right there on the beach.
the water was made of a million gazillion seven hundred thirty three
drops of pure crystal and sunlight
and the sand was silk.
even with a breaking heart
i knew that somehow
i had missed
some good times at places like this.
i am living every single day
in a swell hotel room!
it hasn’t got a silk beach right out the door
and there’s no crystal ocean
it makes me feel as if i am on vacation!
you can’t ask for much more than that old bean!
i hope you don’t have a tiger by the tail.
i hope you enjoy camping.
but i also hope you enjoy other kinds of being away too!
you celebrate the little things in your life.
it can be as little
enjoying the heck out of simply
living in one room
that used to be
a hotel room ! ! !
and as long as you’ve got
a way to blog and keep in touch with us
well . . .
you’ve got it made !
til soon old bean!
