you can’t know how absolutely precious it is til you have none.
for almost two years.
only a fool would complain.
i was out this morning . . .
had errands to run.
you didn’t hear a single person groaning and moaning.
i also got one estimate this morning.
and the news was what i thought ~
it seems the roof that the man did
who sat across from me at my dining room table
after the small tornado and hailstorm
who had said
“don’t worry about a thing. i take care of widows and orphans.”
that should have been a clue to anyone more savvy than me. . .
with care like that ~ we widows and orphans need no enemies!!!
well ~ it seems he didn’t even do HALF of my roof after the storm.
where was the marine you ask?
why didn’t i ask him to check on it?
~ his wife was dying of cancer ~
he was at her side every minute toward the end.
i was not about to whine about “would you check my roof?”
i just don’t do things like that.
the guy must have really needed the money i guess.
it’s my own fault. i’m a grown up.
maybe i should have hired somebody to climb up there and check his work.
but i didn’t.
no point crying over spilt milk now.
the move is set for january 21.
i get keys to my new apt on january 18.
closing is january 25.
and if the rain lets up and the creeks don’t rise
~ and the present sorry roof dries out enough ~
all systems GO!!!!
i have already given my new little place a name.
since it’s the upper floor
since it’s tiny
i am naming it
the wren house.
at first i thought nest.
but i like house better.
my dearest friend and artist from australia
her blog is
home in a heartbeat.
vicki had sent me the most beautiful tiny bird pin she made
that looks modern and asian and . . .
well ~ here it is!
the marine will know how to adhere it
to a beautiful grey piece of weathered wood.
it will welcome you to the wren house.
thank you again vicki!!!
i do love it so.
check out her website above won’t you?
you won’t be sorry!
australia is so magical. i mean purely magical!!!
she lives there with her husband and son
and a blue dog named jack.
jack is a special dog.
yes. other than being blue.
jack smiles at you with his eyes and his grin.
you just have to see it.
think i’ll just kick back and enjoy this lovely soft light rain.
it’s rained like this off and on now for two days and nights.
because of the drought we could stand weeks and weeks of it.
but tomorrow they’re saying bright sunshine.
so we will cherish this life from the skies right now.
what makes it so wonderful is no wind!
you heard me! no wind on this prairie right now!!
usually it rains horizontally! LOLOL.
so this is special rain indeed.
tomorrow 25 mph winds with gusts 35 to 40.
yeah. more like it. sigh.
~ til then ~
cheers old bean!
life is good.
