i don’t know where i’ve been.
i live in a rather isolated world i suppose.
it’s a small simple world of my own making.
i watch very little tv.
i do watch the weather forecasts.
where i live that is important.
sometimes even a life saver.
i have only two favorite shows that i try to catch each week.
sometimes i watch an occasional good documentary on pbs.
and since i’m confessing here! . . .
i admit that i like most anything made by the bbc!
i usually always miss the news
local and national both.
i don’t watch the news on purpose.
i find it adds nothing
to the quality of my life.
and i think it would even add to the hypertension
SO . . .
when i googled it to learn more about
i was literally blown away by some of the images.
i had NO idea !!!
they even wait in the dark
the cold night
to go inside and do this?????
i have heard
about the stories each year
of people getting injured
trampled to death.
a poor security doorman
that simply unlocked the door to a store
by these idiots.
but that’s the word for them.
to kill a man with your unbridled greed
and unawareness of the life around you
and simply stampede like herds of cattle
and trample him to death
under your feet
just so you can
race in and buy STUFF
that you will eventually put into a garage sale
or store in a stupid closet
for the rest of your life . . .
and in the meantime
he lost his
just trying to do his job.
that seems evil to me.
that exciting is it?
how about when you get the credit card bill?
then the fun seems to be all gone
and it amounts to
to me this is a scary thing.
it’s people at their worst.
almost a mob mentality.
no. it is a mob mentality.
spawned by what?
no regard for the real things in life?
only that which can be bought?
and bought usually on credit?
here’s a thought.
i have a dear blogger friend.
she is so gentle and kind.
she has had to get a job in retail.
i imagine that is hard for her on many levels
because you see . . .
she is also a fellow minimalist.
she doesn’t even want a single thing of all that ‘stuff”
she is having to sell.
. . .
though she is grateful to even have this job
. . . like so many people in the same boat . . .
~ she cannot find work right now in her own field ~
retail is providing her with barely enough to live.
so . . .
if you have to go out there in the mob
please be aware of good people like her.
she is there simply to earn a living.
this will be her first experience
shoppers en masse
it must be a scary thing.
just think of that poor security doorman.
if you are one of the mob.
if you are like me
and love the simple life.
the one where
you are content with what you already have . . .
and as a peanut reader
you probably are . . .
because that’s really what the peanut is about ~
loving life itself.
good for you!
we are all in good company!
fix yourself a warm cup of something
ain’t the small life wonderful?
