yup. these are three happy labs sitting in mud.
i didn’t take this picture. i would have been right in there with them!
and it has NOTHING to do with this post.
i just love this picture. LOL.
i guess you could say . . . it’s dogs enjoying the simple life. hahahaha.
as only dogs know how to do! they just make my day!
i wrote this post last week. and just publishing it today.
and as i click on that little button ~
i realize many of you are in harm’s way.
i have two friends i’m thinking especially of and worried about ~
rosemary in new jersey ‘content in a cottage’
and kim in virginia outside d.c. ‘ life at golden pines.’
god speed dear ones and hope that the storm has no fury on you.
my love and concern ever with you.
and for any other peanut readers enduring this storm too ~
take care! take good care.
and now . . . the real post pictures . . .
i took all of these of the wee blink bonnie in the last two weeks.
still getting the hang of that camera. so . . .
this post will be nothing but pictures.
and i’m sorry if it took a long time to load.
you will probably become very bored.
but . . . i need the practice with the camera.
and . . .
it will give you an idea of how i live as a minimalist.
except i’m not really fond of that word.
i don’t like most ists and isms . . . i prefer not to be labeled.
but that’s not the way the world works. it likes to label people and things.
i guess that’s better than being libeled! LOL.
i prefer to just feel like i live a simple life.
i do love the word simplicity and what it implies.
but then it’s all relevant isn’t it?
i enjoy electricity and running water. and air conditioning.
so i guess i only love simplicity up to a point!
but my home reflects that love i think. for the most part anyway.
it’s very plain.
it’s very simple.
and like thoreau said . . .
“bareness may look like poverty to you . . . but to me it is simplicity.”
i find that bareness to be restful for this cluttered mind!
these are a lot of pictures. showing it in different lights.
different times of the day . . . different weather. one day it finally rained!
i hope you feel you’ve paid a visit when you’re through.
we’re happy you stopped by . . .
the wee blink bonnie and me !
this is my front yard.
looking across to danuta and joel’s cottage.
that’s pronounced ‘danoota’ . . .
she’s polish. and she’s great!
my wee cottage.
this is zeke’s little angel memorial.
looking toward the back yard from the patio.
standing on the patio looking toward the front street.
we’ll enter through the french door off the patio.
i love the sunlight and shadow art on my floor!
on a day when i light the corners. it was raining on this morning.
also . . . i tend to move the plants around.
the small benches in my house were made by my favorite marine.
he just “knocked them together” from scrap pine he said.
the honey colored wood lends a warmth and texture . . .
but keeps the simplicity that i love. they are dear to me.
the tiny little room where the window is . . . is the washer and dryer room.
the big pot of soup’s on! . . . smellin’ good in here.
another little marine bench holding my bouquet of sticks.
let those breezes blow!
this is the little library.
and that is my reading chair by the window.
and the little radio where i listen to npr and my cd’s of rain and thunder
and . . . paris bistro music from the 1930’s and 40’s. and wonderful
dance music from brazil.
. . . where the peanut’s written. this was a rainy day.
i had to light the corners in the little library.
the marine made that wooden vase.
it holds one pen. it’s perfect!
the book case full of old friends.
this is the only artwork in the little library.
it’s a calendar of elizabeth halt’s “atlas.”
i’ll be getting another one for next year!
she’s in my friends links in case you want this smiling face too!
he’s a sweetheart!
leaving the little library . . . just across the hall is the guest bathroom.
well look who’s greeting us!
thank god she’s blurry! LOL.
i love the happy colors in this tray.
there she is again.
she’s standing in the tub!
bound and determined to hog the spotlight.
lighting the corners on a rainy day in the bedroom.
that door leads into the master bathroom.
see? i’m ready for my next fancy luncheon! LOL.
(if you’re new to the peanut ~ go to categories ~ click on ‘so embarrassing’
and scroll to ‘the good non-social wife.’)
serene. comfortable. simple.
sunny reading corner by the windows in the bedroom.
with tiny prism lights. pretty!
and . . . we’re back in the living room area.
the ‘bouquet’ of sticks is to prop up windows in the cottage!
the marine made them for me.
i can’t afford new windows! perfect solution!
my favorite kind of day. with the windows open.
that breeze is so fresh!
come wintertime . . . i’ll put an area carpet down that i have.
it has warm rich tones of wine red and cream and forest green . . .
it warms up all the white.
it’s stored in my bedroom closet right now.
i keep my clothes in the little library closet. i don’t have very many.
and there will be wine red cushions in the chairs.
just a little color to cozy it up a bit.
and a soft fleece throw good for snuggling up in the chair.
this is not a good picture.
but the wee blink bonnie has a warm glow at night.
it’s a cozy little place because of the lamplight.
i’m so glad you stopped by.
next time stay longer. i’ll fix a cuppa and we’ll sit a spell.
and you can tell me a sea story!
