finally! a cloudy day here.
some of you may already know. i live in almost the middle of america.
in the middle of my state . . . which is oklahoma.
“where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!”
and we have been in a strangling drought for the past two years.
we have endured months of temperatures in 100’s . . . mid 100’s!
no rain through the summer to speak of. great cracks in the land.
finally! today it is cool. there is complete overcast.
and a promise of a slow moving front with rain.
we take our weather very seriously here.
the weather people on our newscasts are not just there to be cute.
they are licensed meterologists. and they are sharp!
thank heaven for them. they save lives. they are quiet heroes.
in my city is the national lab for severe weather for our entire nation.
there are tall tornado sirens throughout the city on street corners.
these sirens are tested on saturdays with only fair weather.
this is my first try at a picture! (and i hope i can get it to work!)
you’ll know if i don’t . . . for there will be no picture. lol.
captain fritter has allowed me to use one of his from where he lives
in his beloved florida keys. the picture is from his blog . . .
manatee fritters. you will find more exquisite pictures there.
it’s breathtaking, don’t you think?
i know as soon as i saw it on his site i would see it many times.
i visited it a lot! it did wonders for this parched soul!
and now . . .
what???? yes!!! the sound of light rain falling.
i have my tiny library window open you know. and i can hear it.
wet blessings from the heavens!
the trees are smiling again.
and so am i.
i did it!!! just click on the picture to see it
in all it’s rain producing glory!
thank you captain fritter!
